Ranked: Rudest Fans in the NFL

When it comes to NFL fans, emotions run high, and loyalty runs deep.

And while there’s nothing wrong with cheering on your favorite NFL team and booing your rivals, what happens when fans take things a little too far and cross the line into disrespectful territory?

From drunk hecklers and foul-mouthed fans to bottle-throwers and field rushers, betting offers site, took a closer look at fan behavior and surveyed NFL fans across the country in order to find out which fan bases are the rudest in the league.

Rudest NFL Fans: Ranked

#1 Philadelphia Eagles

They may be known as the “City of Brotherly Love,” but according to survey respondents, Philadelphia Eagles fans aren’t living up to their city’s moniker. In fact, NFL fans ranked the Eagles as the rudest fans in the entire league. Respondents said Eagles fans are notorious for starting fights, which put them in the top spot in our “rudest fans” ranking.

#2 Las Vegas Raiders

Coming in at second place are fans of the Las Vegas Raiders. Ever since the team made the move from Oakland to Sin City, videos of Raiders fan altercations have gone viral, which is probably why respondents said the rudest behavior among Raiders fans is their eagerness to start a fight. Maybe it’s something in the air or frustrations over their 19-year playoff win drought that’s preventing Raiders fans from minding their manners.

#3 Dallas Cowboys

Whether it’s throwing trash at an injured Dak Prescott or at officials, some Cowboys fans have taken classlessness to a new level. According to respondents, Cowboys fans are the third rudest fans in the league. But perhaps the rude behavior stems from the top. Respondents voted Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy as the second rudest coach in the league right behind Bill Belichick of the New England Patriots.

#4 New England Patriots

Speaking of the Patriots, New England fans don’t trail too far behind the Cowboys when it comes to rude behavior. According to respondents, Patriots fans are guilty of mocking opposing teams and fans, which puts them in the No. 4 spot on our ranking.

#5 Pittsburgh Steelers

Another fanbase who needs their manners checked are the Pittsburgh Steelers. Respondents said Steelers fans also take things too far when it comes to mocking opposing teams and fans during games.

Rounding out the top ten rudest NFL fans are the Green Bay Packers (No. 6), Chicago Bears (No. 7), New York Giants (No. 8), Buffalo Bills (No. 9) and the New York Jets (No. 10).

Easily Offended NFL Fans: Ranked

No one likes to be on the receiving end of rude behavior, but in a full- sport like professional football, it’s a necessity to have thick skin. However, some fan bases tend to be more easily offended than others. According to respondents, the top five “thin-skinned” fanbases in the NFL are the Dallas Cowboys (No. 1), New England Patriots (No. 2), Green Bay Packers (No. 3), Philadelphia Eagles (No. 4) and the Chicago Bears (No. 5).

Easily Offended NFL Coaches and Players: Ranked

When comparing the rudest coaches with the most thin-skinned coaches, there isn’t much difference within the top three rankings. Once again, head coach Bill Belichick takes the top spot followed by Mike McCarthy. For the No. 3 spot, it’s John Harbaugh of the Baltimore Ravens. Harbaugh is ed by Ravens starting quarterback Lamar Jackson who takes the No. 7 spot for the most “thin-skinned” quarterback. But when it comes to the most easily offended quarterback in the league, the award goes to none other than the GOAT himself, Tom Brady. The Buccaneers star quarterback also took second place for “rudest” QB in the league.

Rudest NFL Fan Behaviors

Worried you might be giving off rude vibes the next time you’re at an NFL game? According to respondents, the worst offenders are those who stand up and block the view during a game, get drunk, cut in line, heckle and block the aisle in the stands.

So, the next time you’re at a game you might want to give yourself a refresher on game day etiquette and keep your manners in mind.

Methodology

In November 2022, we surveyed 1,150 Americans who regularly watch the NFL in order to determine which NFL players, coaches and fanbases are the rudest and most easily offended in the league. 50% of respondents were male, 48% were female and 2% were transgender.
